Toyo Tyres Racing Saloons race 1 Saturday
Leigh Franklin in the Talbot Sunbeam swiftly took the lead from pole position man John Willcocks, whilst Stacy Vickers in the bright orange Mazda lost two places, putting Don Hughes Golf into third by Druids!

1st into Druids on lap 1 Leigh Franklin in the Talbot Sunbeam, John Willcocks follows.
A bit further down the grid Nick Barke (BMW) was on a charge having started from 13th he managed to take Roger Kneebone on the inside at Druids and was up to eighth by the end of the first lap. On lap one, positions were changing rapidly. At the other end of the grid Philip Comer (XJS) was now giving Peter Longworth (Blue BMW) serious grief at Druids having made a brilliant start.

Stacy Vickers quickly made his way back up to third, but could never quite join in the action with John and Leigh at the very front!

Following a poor start Stacy Vickers Mazda RX7 makes a move on Don Hughes for 3rd on lap 3.
Having made his way up from 28th to 17th, Philip Comer had a spin on lap 13 demoting him back down the grid within the sights of fellow XJS driver Roger Webster!

Mark Hope laps Tony Doe (91) on lap 15. Charles Mosely in the Sierra Cosworth is behind.

Philip Comer XJS made his way up to 17th before taking a spin on lap 13.
It was cat and mouse at the front untill the chequered flag, with Leigh Franklin taking the finish less than half a second in front of John Willcocks in the BMW left hooker.

And the battle continued to the end with Leigh Franklin passing the flag first, by less than half a second!
TTRS SUNDAYS RACE report mostly by Philip Comer XJS driver.
There was the odd shower about and it had rained quite heavily on Sunday morning. It had stopped by the time we went out and the track was still damp in places.
I managed to pull a muscle in my back just before the race which meant it was painfull round the corners, so I was a bit off the pace I had achived the day before; also slightly wary of the damp track.
Ray Ingman and Mark Russell had managed to get the head gasket changed overnight and were ready for the TTRS race. (No mean feat!!)
The three Jaguars were all at the back of the grid, after I had managed to lose the places I had gained on Saturday (I was up to 17th from 27th on the grid by lap 5, then lost it all by spinning at Graham Hill Bend - twice for good measure!!) and Roger's last lap incident.
So Roger was on row 13 and I was just behind on row 14 and Roger must have been right at the back. Roger got a good start and manged to follow a quick BMW (No 14 - finished 7th overall) through the pack and into Paddock.
My start was not so good and I followed Roger round Druids, then got overtaken by a sneaky Golf GTI (Paul Cowland) on the exit from Druids! I follwed it and Nigel Brittain in a BMW for a couple of laps and managed to squeeze between them down Brabham straight, which was a little scarry. I then had Roger ahead and slowly caught up with him over a couple of laps and got past him up the inside into Druids. The rest of race was fairly uneventful and I was then on my own for much of the time except when the leaders lapped me.
I did not seem to be able to catch the cars I had overtaken on Race 1 the day before. Mark finished a creditable 14th out of 30; (running on 888 tyres) I was 26th and Roger 28.
Good racing and good crowd of people. Roger and I had joined the TTRS drivers for a Bar-B-Q in the paddock on Saturday evening. Thanks Philip! See video on Kutukas site
If anyone has pictures from the TTRS race on Sunday it would be great to add them to the page!

PRACTICE/QUALIFYING PBJ
36 Cars from 3 different series took to the track for qualifying. Caterhams dominated the front end of the grid, with Ian Fletcher in the Fletcher Hornet being the 1st of the rest in 9th. Quickest PBJ was Ken Paton in the D type replica. Allan Glover was second with new PBJ driver Jerry Knight in third. Classic Spares driver Cliff Ryan did not make the practice following problems in the XJS session.

THE RACE
Despite 3 of the drivers being reserves, all made it to the race apart from Cliff.
Ken Paton took and maintained the PBJ lead to the finish. Allan Glover was running in second (PBJ) to Ken Paton but with a Westfield V8 in between for the first 9 laps. The gap however was gradually increasing as the laps went by.
On lap 16, Andy Toone driving a caterham in 6th place collected Allan Glover mid spin resulting in significant damage and a DNF for both drivers.
Regular PBJ driver Lawrence Coppock was struggling somewhat in what looked like the Ex Zoe North car.
Jerry Knight driving the Jaguar revival car took 2nd due to Allan's DNF, with Chris Palmer 3rd.

FUTURE CLASSICS RACE SUNDAY
18 Starters made the grid for the 40 minute CSCC race, including 2 Jaguars. Nick Gwinnutt in the X300 & Mark Russell/Ray Ingman in the green & white XJS.
It has to said that the odds were stacked against the XJS, It had just received a new head gasket that morning, they were starting from the back of the grid due to not qualifying, and they were hit with a 10 second penalty!
THE RACE
Stacy Vickers quickly took over first place (Lap2) and stayed there for 41 laps apart from the two laps following the compulsory stop. By the end of the race he had lapped everyone up to 4th at least once, some 4 or 5 times!
Starting from last, Mark Russell elected to do the first stint, and quickly made it up to 9th by lap 4. On lap 11 he made it past fellow Jaguar driver Nick Gwinnutt.
The changeover to Ray Ingman was on lap 20 and within a few laps he was on a similar pace to Mark's lap times. Mark recorded the best out of the two at 59.430 which was about 2.5 seconds off the leaders best lap!
Russell/Ingman finished 8th, ahead of the other Jaguar of Nick Gwinnutt down in 13th. Remarkably all the cars finished the race. 40 minutes can take its toll on cars that are more used for 15 minute races.
