SALOONS

VREDESTEIN / SOILMEC JEC SALOON CHALLENGE

Silverstone 22nd September 2007

See how the Saloon Championship would have finished (if it was one!)

19 Saloons made it to the second trip to Silverstone. Chris Boon looked the favourite to wear the Non Championship crown. This was confirmed by Richard Dorlin's Mechanical failure during practice. This was made all the worse by having achieved pole position, but with no car to race!

Simon Lewis leads the race from Dave Bye in the early stages

There were as usual several close battles throughout the grid! The front was no exception with a close race between Dave Bye and Simon Lewis.

Chris Boon puts the pressure on Tim Morrant

Despite his best efforts, Colin McKay could not make it past Robert Drewery!

And the battle continues!

After a brief stint in the XJS Championship, Colin McKay returned to the Saloon's for the last race of the season! the contest between Colin & Robert was probably the closest of all, but despite Colin taking the lead briefly, Robert Drewery finished the race just ahead of Colin.

The battle between Dave Bye & Simon Lewis hots up, with Howard Kirkham giving them both something to think about!

Good to see such close racing at the sharpend, with previous race winner Howard Kirkham keeping them both on their toes!

Another close battle ensues between Neil Taylor & John Slater

Dave Bye eventualy won the race, whilst 5th placed class E driver Chris Boon won the overall Non Championship. Hopefully the MSA will agree that the Saloons should have their Chamionship Status reinstated for the 2008 season! To see how it would have looked in 2007 click here!
