JAGUAR CLASSIC PARTS JEC SALOON CHAMPIONSHIP
First pics of Saturdays race. Much more to follow!
Steve Avery is famous for his sideways driving style, and winning races. Steve made his return to the Jaguar Saloon's and true to form he made a brilliant start from 3rd on the grid, however by the dip at Paddock he had spun 180 degrees and had minor contact with Dave Bye. John Slater also hit the spining car causing serious damage to both vehicles! The X300 belonging to Chris Palmer was now un-movable.

Meanwhile back on the start straight Neil Taylor hit the wall whilst attempting to avoid Robert Drewery, and so the Red flags came out! John & Neil both managed to drive their cars back to the padock, but unfortunately both their races were over!
Aborted 1st lap incident which David bye was lucky to avoid! Pic Mathew Jeffery (thanks)
.
John Slaters car clearly damaged nearside front, and Neil Taylors car presumably nearside rear damage?
THE RACE (Start 2)
The restart went much better, and normal service was resumed with Dave Bye & Richard Dorlin fighting for the lead with Tim Morrant a few yards back in third. Colin Mckay & Ken Angel were side by side as they hurtled down Paddock and remained together for the remainder of the race. Colin marginally ahead until lap 10, and then Ken edged ahead, but only just! One of the best battles of the day!

Roger Bowman, Nigel Webb, Simon Hollingworth appeared at Paddock bend three abreast, Roger was the eventual winner of this particular struggle!
1st lap restart, picture Colin McKay (thanks).

Restarted race, Richard Dorlin leads David Bye at druids closely followed by Tim Morrant. Pic Mathew Jeffery.
Druids and Paddock were very popular parking places during the weekend, Ken Angel and Patrick Doyle both came very close to joining the list!
Ken Angel runs very wide just avoiding the gravel trap! Pic Mathew Jeffery.
.
Plenty of off roading for all of you rally fans!
Richard Dorlin's luck was not very consistent, and lap 6 saw him lose the lead, dropping back to 9th following another incident! This left only 7 laps to recover as many places as he could, but that didn't stop him trying!

Richard Dorlin, Howard Kirkham and Philip Woods all keen to be first into the hairpin!
There was plenty of close action from the front runners to the back of the grid. New driver Duncan Ross was determined to make it past Andrew Jeffery, but it wasn't to be! Andrew was not so happy with his performance in this race, and has been busy studying the in car video footage for clues! There is always a lot to be learnt from analysing yours and everyone else's racing lines, braking points, & overtaking maneuvers etc.

At the other end of the field Duncan Ross tried in vain to make it past Andrew Jeffery. Pic Mathew Jeffery
Another new driver Richard Hacket was gradually making progress until lap 6 when it all went pear shaped! He did however manage to un lap himself from Robert MacVicar before the end of the race!
Back at the sharp end on lap 9 Simon Lewis grabs 2nd from Tim Morrant, the following lap Dean Sewell takes invited driver Nigel Webb. There were also changes towards the rear as Guy Connew takes 16th from Simon Hollingworth.
David Bye managed to stay out of trouble for the entire race which resulted in a win. Simon Lewis however was back on form and finished only half a second behind!
A few new drivers made their Saloons debut at Brands, Guy Connew XJ6, Roger Bowman Mk1 and Richard Hackett XJ6.
Presumably Terry Dye will be having a few words, regarding the number of incidents in all of the JEC races at Brands Hatch. This circuit has earned something of a reputation for JEC track drama's, but thats racing!
